Grand Hotel Amrath Kurhaus The Hague - Scheveningen

HISTORIC HOTEL BY THE SEA!

In October we were lucky enough to stay in the impressive Grand Hotel Amrath Kurhaus. When we arrived, we had to drive through a line way to get to the front as the hotel is not accessible from the main road. But, that is not a problem. My wife went inside to alert the desk staff that we needed our car to be parked. There was no one at the door, but we understand that was because there were a high demand due to many checking in in at the same time. But, the female desk clerk was rather rude to my wife, which was most unusual. Other staff members were thankfully better. Our room was OK. Not great, but not awful. Unfortunately, it did not have a functioning heater. We were offered to change rooms for our second night, but packing, moving and unpacking was unpalatable, so we decided to stay where we were. No dramas. The main hall is *spectacular* in every way. This is the high point of the hotel. It is historic and awe inspiring. The female trainee staff member that conducted our check out was wonderful. A major interior renovation is needed. Once that is accomplished, the Kurhaus will again take its place as one of the great hotels on the European continent.
