Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof - Leipzig

A GLORIOUS HOTEL IN A WONDERFUL CITY!

From the moment we pulled over in our hire car, we were greeted by a bevy of staff from the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof. Such care and attention in freezing zero temperature really impressed us no end. The front desk staff were excellent and the room we were allocated was simply wonderful! The hotel itself has a Belle Epoque grandness about it, even though, I suspect, like most things in Germany, it is a post war reconstruction. Either way, it is an incredible hotel that some how manages to tastefully combine the old world with the new without ever appearing kitsch. The entrance foyer reminds me of a brilliant dance floor at some nightclub...but somehow, it blends in beautifully! The reception counter is no less bright, with a thought provoking quote by Goethe emblazoned across it. Again, it really looks wonderful. The bar however, is next level excellent! Perfect to hold a function, or simply to share drinks with someone special, it was definite highlight for us, especially the cosy fire place. The staff, however, were all top class. Special mention must go to the coolest concierge you will meet outside the Caribbean, a Haitian chap by the name of Jacques Guerrier - one of the loveliest humans one could ever meet. Nothing is too much trouble for Jacques. We absolutely loved this guy and felt that he helped cap off a remarkable stay with his helpfulness and friendliness. We would be happy to recommend the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof to anyone looking for a wonderful luxury hotel in a wonderful German city!
