PARKHOTEL SONNENHOF - VADUZ

GREAT VIEWS!

On our recent European tour, my husband and I decided that we wanted to stay in Liechtenstein and experience a micro nation. Pretty much the only choice befitting our requirements was the Parkhotel Sonnenhof. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the ever jolly Helmut who is a credit to the establishment. Our room was not what we would consider five star standard, but more a four star business hotel type in decor etc. I am sure there are much better rooms in the stately home, but I am also sure that they would be eye wateringly expensive for most travellers. In any case, we enjoyed our dinner in the in-house restaurant with our cozy table having a direct view out the window to the imposing mountains in Switzerland as the sun was setting beyond them. The meal was à la carte and not overly filling for the extortionate cost, but the view and the friendly service compensated for that somewhat. Breakfast next day was the bare minimum to fulfill the obligation, but, again not the equivalant of a five star continental hotel brasserie. Regrettably the weather was too cold to eat outside on the circular balcony which has spectacular views to Vaduz Castle, but it was a wonderful experience none the less.
